Our story

Rose Pizzeria, opened in 2021 by Gerad Gobel and Alexis Rorabaugh, is a Berkeley-based restaurant known for its thin-crust pizzas with a "Cal-Ital" style, combining traditional and modern techniques.

What started as a walk-in-only neighborhood spot has grown into one of the most talked-about pizzerias in the country. Rose Pizzeria has landed on the San Francisco Chronicle's Top 100 Restaurants list and was named one of the 22 best pizzerias in the United States by the New York Times. That recognition has meant longer lines and a few new house rules (no modifications on most pies, limited takeout) to protect the quality of what comes out of that six-pizza oven.

We're still doing what we set out to do from the beginning: make pizza that's thoughtful, a little unexpected, and genuinely fun to eat, in a place that feels like somewhere you'd want to sit for a while.

All for the love of pizza, wine, and good times!
